A man in his 50s killed when his twin-seater plane crashed in North Mayo has been named locally as Michael McCarrick.
The aircraft came down between Ballina and Bonniconlon at Breaffy.
It’s understood the deceased was a native of Doomore, Tubbercurry, and married with two teenage sons. He was a network technician with the ESB and went flying after work on Friday evening.
The wreckage of the aircraft has been taken to Gormanston in Meath where experts will investigate the cause of the crash.
