Taylor and Healy have been elected chairs of the south Sligo and Sligo municipal bodies respectively.
They will serve for a year.
Neither bodies have statutory powers of any great import. Some consider them to be little better than parish councils, except that members are paid.
Fine Gael TD, Tony McLoughlin has meanwhile confirmed that he will be seeking selection as a general election candidate at the party’s Convention in September.
