South Sligo Fianna Fail councillor Eamon Scanlon has said there are ongoing delays in the issuance of farm payments.

“This is a ridiculous situation that leaves many families on the breadline in the run-up to Christmas,” he said.

He also expressed concern about “confusing paperwork and drawn out processes.”

Others to address the meeting called by Cllr. Scanlon included his party’s spokesman on agriculture, Eamon O’Cuiv and Dr. Ken Swanick.

He said, “I will continue to fight to ensure that farmers get the payments they are entitled to.”
