Confirmation ‘brilliant news’ – McLoughlin.
Sligo News File Online.
The Department of Education decision to expand Sooey National school with the provision of an additional classroom this year has been welcomed by Sligo-Leitrim Fine Gael TD, Tony McLoughlin
The confirmation, said Deputy McLoughlin, is “brilliant news for the school’s Principal, the local community, and for the parents of the pupils who attend the school.
Referring to the recent announcement, he said:
“Sooey N.S. has a wide catchment area, incorporating both Riverstown and Ballygawley and the schools attendance figures have steadily increased over the last decade.
“The new mainstream classroom, when built, will provide extra capacity for the current pupils, and it will also enable the school to grow further and attract more new pupils in the future.
“It is great to see that as the country continues to recover, extra funding allocations such as this can materialize and I have no doubt that any money spent by the Government on primary schools such as Sooey N.S. will be money very well spent.
“The education system is vitally important, and it is something which the Government is committed to improving.
“I will liaise with the both Department of Education and Skills, and Minster Jan O’Sullivan, to ensure that the classroom is provided as quickly as is possible to Sooey”, he added.
