Eight more have sadly lost their lives to Covid -19, taking the number of casualties so far to a shocking total of 1,940. Would so many have died if government had acted sooner and, at the outset of the pandemic, introduced controls on entry to the State?

The number of cases of the virus to date stands at 64,538 of which 24,000 have recovered.

Cross border, the North’s Department of Health has reported eight further Covid-19 linked deaths and 595 new cases.

The virus can damage the lungs, heart, and brain, with an increased risk of long-term health issues.

Level 5 lockdown restrictions currently in place are sparking panic in parts of the business sector. Many outlets are expected to close permanently with a sweeping loss of jobs across particularly the rural economy.
