Fine Gael TD for Sligo – Leitrim, Tony McLoughlin is to meet with Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Simon Coveney in
Dublin this week to discuss “the importance for renovation works to take place on Rosses Point Pier in 2015.”

He said: “This lobbying will come on the back of a similar meeting I had with the Minister in January about the same issue. I was advised then by the Minister that a new Departmental scheme was to be announced in March and that I should discuss this with the relevant Sligo County Council officials.

“I subsequently held a number of meetings with Mr. Tom Kilfeather, Director of Services at Sligo County Council, who has since advised me that this project is the Councils first priority for submission for funding from this scheme.

“As many people who are familiar with Rosses Point will know, the pier is currently in a state of disrepair after years of neglect, and it is in urgent need of Departmental funding in order to improve and upgrade the quality of the facilities on offer in Rosses Point, which is of course a vital and vibrant tourist location in Co. Sligo.
