Fine Gael TD, Tony McLoughlin is to meet with Agriculture Minister, Simon Coveney to discuss issues affecting farmers in the north west.
A number of matters were identified in a meeting he had with an IFA delegation from Sligo and Leitrim, including difficulties
with respect to the Glas payment scheme, suckler cow prices
and the new Department of Agriculture commonage plan.
Agriculture, he observed, is the backbone of the western economy,
and farmers are currently under pressure.
He hopes to raise the concerns with Coveney as soon as possible.
