Fine Gael TD for Sligo – Leitrim, Tony McLoughlin, has warmly welcomed the announcement today that the Government is to allocate over 20 Million Euros to Sligo County Council for the development of 301 housing units, over the next three years.

“I am pleased that Co. Sligo has received such a high allocation from the Department on this occasion as I have made many representations on the issue to both Minister Alan Kelly and Junior Minister Paudie Coffee in order to highlight the importance of the need for new local authority housing in my constituency.

“This new funding allocation will alleviate 39% of the current housing waiting list in Sligo.

“As the economy continues to recover under this Government and employment continues to fall and Government revenue continues to increase, important social developments such as this announced today will continue to occur,” concluded Deputy McLoughlin.
