Sligo’s newly opened Western Distributor Road phase II represents a major boost for the further development of the North West capital. This was the confident message of county council officials following the launch of the long-awaited route earlier today.
Acting Chief Executive Tom Kilfeather said the opening of the road will boost the future expansion of the Western part of the town and give the IDA opportunity to promote the area for additional development.
The IDA is already moving on planning for the construction of premises on a site in the vicinity of the new road.
Mr. Kilfeather said the easement of traffic congestion and the provision of routes for pedestrians and cyclists were key elements of the €12 million project.
