The exclusion of the Western Rail Corridor from the revised National Development Plan launched in Cork today has been criticised by Mayo-based TD’s

Both Sinn Fein Deputy Rose Conway-Walsh and Fianna Fail Deputy Dara Calleary have spoken of their disappointment over the omission.

The development plan, launched by Taoiseach Micky Martin, outlines proposals for an €165 billion splurge on projects in Cork, Dublin, Waterford, Limerick and Galway.

A commitment to the reopening the rail corridor from Athenry to Claremorris has been strongly campaigned for over years.
