Perry wants Eircom to upgrade Dromore West broadband

Householders having difficulty in accessing service

Former junior minister for small business John Perry is calling on Eircom to assess broadband facilities in Dromore West.

He said local householders are experiencing difficulty in accessing internet use, especially at peak times, as a result of problems with the village located Eircom owned broadband exchange.

“The exchange,” he said, “appears to be overloaded and householders have experienced a reduction in service. Some are getting no service at all.

“This in 2015 is unacceptable and I ask that an immediate assessment of the network be carried out and upgraded urgently until such time as high speed broadband is rolled out under the National Broadband Plan.”

He said the NBP is under way and “it is anticipated that the first homes and businesses will be connected in 2016 and connections will continue thereafter, with the intention of having all premises connected within a 5 year period.”
