Former British Prime Minister Sir John Major is dropping into Ireland tomorrow for the inaugural Albert Reynolds Memorial lecture in Longford.

Quite why roads are being shut to facilitate his arrival isn’t clear but a number will be out of bounds to the people from 2 pm to 6 pm.

It’s also reported that residents of homes located along the blocked routes will have to show proof of residency to be allowed access their properties.

The memorial event is being held at the town’s Backstage Theatre commencing at 4 pm.
