Contractor on schedule for mid July finish

Sligo County Council has stated the Hughes Bridge Widening Contract is “fast approaching 80% completion.”
The Contractor, they said, “remains on schedule for a mid July completion and we acknowledge their efforts in minimising the disruption to traffic to-date.
“From a traffic management perspective, we are now entering a most challenging phase. Over the coming weeks, road re-surfacing works will commence. Quite possibly from as early as Thursday next (21st May) and for a significant period thereafter (approx. three weeks), traffic on Hughes Bridge will be reduced to a single lane in each direction. This will inevitably lead to delays of up to 15 minutes during peak times.
The council said that since the commencement of project it had endeavoured to communicate “any and all changes which impact significantly on journey times,” and will continue to regularly update the public as the development is progressed.
