Value eroded by sweeping government water charges, taxes and levies.

Fine Gael TD, Tony McLoughlin has said advance EU farm payments are being rolled out to farmers in Sligo and Leitrim with effect from today.
Around €12 million is being allocated to Sligo. The figure for Leitrim is €9,262,488.
However, most farmers will find the income value of the payments comprehensively eroded by the government’s massive double water rates, its raft of direct and indirect taxes, the levies on energy and farm insurance bills and other ever spiralling overheads.
Still, Deputy McLoughlin is sticking to his guns that “Fine Gael is standing up for rural Ireland.”
