Deceased former councillors were remembered when members adjourned the monthly meeting of Sligo County Council as a mark of respect today.

Councillor Paddy Conway of Enniscrone represented West Sligo on the local authority from 1967 to 1999. William Carter, from Strandill, served for a short time in 1967 before moving to England.

Following tributes, the meeting was suspended on the proposal of Cllr. Joe Queenan.
