SLIGO CITY AREA:
N4 Hughes Bridge Widening Contract
The information below will affect travel times to and from Schools and Colleges. Please note that this will remain the case for at least a further three to four weeks. This information is most pertinent to parents/guardians of students sitting state exams over the coming weeks.
Traffic on Hughes Bridge is now reduced to a single lane in each direction. This will inevitably lead to delays of up to 15 minutes during peak times.
Traffic signals at junction S9 (Hughes Bridge / Ballast Quay / Custom House Quay) will be out of operation for a period of approximately 3 weeks. During this time the following will apply:
1. Southbound traffic may continue straight through junction S9 unaffected.
2. Traffic exiting Custom House Quay and turning left onto the Inner Relief Road must stop and give way to southbound traffic.
3. Temporary traffic signals will be in operation for northbound traffic and traffic exiting Ballast Quay. Every effort will be made to ensure that the timings of the temporary traffic signals are similar to the existing traffic signals timings.
All of the above will be appropriately signed on-site.
As always, we would urge motorists to exercise caution when travelling across Hughes Bridge but most particularly over the coming weeks.
We thank you for your continued support and patience.
