The Dail has heard that between 54,000 and 56,000 travellers arrived in Ireland from the UK  during Christmas yet, said TD Mattie McGrath ‘none of them were asked to do anything.’

Deputy McGrath said that as Leader of his group, he had been asking in meetings with the  Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly why the ports were not sealed. This, he said was only now being done from 16 January, and, he added, “the Minister is proposing to prosecute the people and we have a mess.”
